Performance Sociology

Valuing Art – Open Discussion, Brixton Village Market, June 2010

Since 2001 counterproductions has created work and situations where art is continuously examined as a mode of being in the world, as social activity. Dialogue, action research and critical thinking are all vital to this working method.

Such dialogical practices inform and shape future projects. It  also provides the central activity of specific cultural events or practices that seek to question the relevance and value of art: to open up a space  for the critical examination of artistic or performative practices that purport to function as instrumentalised social art; or in seeking to examine the political, cultural or social efficacy of contemporary art practice as an/other form of public intervention.
